Stars Acquire Jason Spezza
(NEW YORK) -- The Ottawa Senators traded center Jason Spezza and top prospect Ludwig Karlsson to the Dallas Stars for forward Alex Chiasson and prospects Nicholas Paul, Alex Guptill, and a second-round draft pick in 2015, both teams confirmed on Tuesday.
Spezza requested a trade once the season was over for the Senators and finally got his wish. He will join his former teammate Ales Hemsky, who received $12 million over three years from the Stars earlier on Tuesday.
"I'm thrilled because we had great chemistry at the end of the year," said Spezza of his relationship with Hemsky. "So it's nice to hear. We got to know each other pretty well pretty quickly."
Spezza is owed $7 million this season after signing a seven-year contract with the Senators.
