Senators Sign David Legwand

Legwand split time with the Predators and the Red Wings last season.

"David is a good, veteran center, a guy that skates pretty well, gets up and down the ice," Senators general manager Bryan Murray said in a statement.

Legwand had 51 points in 83 games between the two teams after spending 15 seasons in Nashville before being traded to Detroit in March.

"We just think the way things shook out for us that having an experienced center that can be a decent faceoff man, be a good defensive player, get points, was very important at this time," Murray continued.

The Senators sent center Jason Spezza to Dallas on Tuesday for right winger Alex Chiasson.
