Colts Might Not Bring RB Richardson Back

Colts Might Not Bring RB Richardson Back

Al Bello/Getty Images(INDIANAPOLIS) — Running back Trent Richardson’s time in Indianapolis may be over.

“Where’s he fit? Where’s he going? Is his arrow up, down, sideways, 45-degree angle?” Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said during his end-of-season interview with the media. “And we have to figure all these things out with guys in all different types of situations on this roster. There are guys across the board that are in a lot of different situations. But, again, when the coaches come back, when we seeing what’s actually out there — we have an idea, draft, juniors that have declared and things like that — once that evolves we’ll have a much better feel for what we need to do.”

Richardson’s season ended on a bad note when he was suspended for two games after missing the team’s walk through on Jan. 17.

Before that, the third overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft was having a poor season. Richardson played in 15 games, running for 519 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 3.3 yards per carry.

Richardson was acquired by the Colts in a trade with the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a first-round draft pick, in September 2013.

Andrew Luck Not Feeling Any Added Pressure

Joe Robbins/Getty Images(INDIANAPOLIS) — Colts quarterback Andrew Luck isn’t feeling any added pressure on Sunday as they prepare for the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

Luck will be playing in his first AFC title game and said on Friday that he isn’t feeling the heat.

“No I don’t think so,” Luck said of the pressure.  “It’s football, same size field, still have to do your job.”

“If you make mistakes, you’ll be punished,” Luck continued.  “Obviously win or go home, I don’t think any of the guys in the locker room feel any added pressure.”

The Patriots are playing in their third straight championship game and 10th overall.

“Everybody’s got to come to play,” Luck said of being the underdog.  “It could be any one of those players making a play, it takes a whole team to win these types of games, and that’s what we’re going in there trying to do.”

This is the first AFC Championship game for the Colts since 2009.

Bill Belichick: Andrew Luck Has ‘No Weakness’ in His Game

Doug Pensinger/Getty Images(FOXBOROUGH, Mass) — New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick knows it won’t be easy on Sunday against the Colts in the AFC Championship game.

Belichick is getting his defense ready for one of the best quarterbacks in the league — Andrew Luck, who has tossed three touchdowns and thrown for 641 yards in the postseason so far.

“He’s got a lot of strengths, no weaknesses,” Belichick said Wednesday.

“He’s got a great future in front of him,” Belichick continued. “He’s already done a lot in the time that he’s been in the league, and I’m sure by the time he gets done he can pass a lot of guys by.”

“Luck’s hard to bring down,” Belichick added. “He runs very well. He’s athletic. He can get outside and make yards with his legs. They also use him on some keep-type plays, you know, the one he scored on for example in the Denver game last week.”

Luck and the Colts are coming off beating the Broncos in Denver last weekend.

Luck Bests Manning, Colts Headed to AFC Championship

Joe Robbins/Getty Images(DENVER) — Andrew Luck got the best of Peyton Manning for the second time in his career and punched the Colts ticket to the AFC title game next Sunday in New England.

Luck threw two touchdown passes and Daniel Herron ran one in for a touchdown to hand Denver a 24-13 loss.

Luck finished 27 of 43 with 265 yards, two interceptions, and two touchdown passes.

Manning threw one early touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas two minutes into the game, but that would be the only one of the game.

The Colts defense held Manning to 211 yards on the day and sacked him twice.

This is the first AFC championship appearance for Indianapolis since 2009, it’s the first of Luck’s career.
