With the Reds leading 3-2 in the sixth inning, Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips took an 0-1 pitch from Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo (8-11) and sent it over the left-field wall for a two-run home run.

Gallardo finished the game allowing three earned runs on ten hits in five innings of work. He also walked one batter and struck out four.

David Holmberg picked up his second win of the season, scattering three hits and two earned runs over six innings.

Milwaukee spent 150 days this season in first place in the National League Central division.
